Everton FC striker facing two month lay-off

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin faces up to two months on the sidelines.

The summer arrival from Sheffield United was withdrawn early into the Blues’ win over Southampton on January 2 after suffering from an ankle knock.

Calvert-Lewin had excelled with a series of cameo appearances under Ronald Koeman including a game-changing impact during last month’s win over Arsenal.

But the Everton manager has confirmed that the 19-year-old will endure a lengthy absence as he revealed his casualty list for the FA Cup visit of Leicester City.

He said: “Calvert-Lewin is out. His ankle can be up to seven, eight weeks [to heal].

“He did well, started well in the game and he had his impact. It’s unlucky in that situation to be injured so fast in the game.

“But he’s young, he’ll get time [again]. He will come back and he will be strong.”
