Bolasie’s Everton FC season ended by ACL injury

Yannick Bolasie’s debut Everton season is all but over after he suffered an ACL injury against Manchester United.

The winger was withdrawn with the problem in his right knee during the latter stages of the Blues’ 1-1 draw with Jose Mourinho’s side on Sunday afternoon.

Scans have since confirmed that Bolasie suffered ligament damage on which he will undergo surgery later this week.

He suffered the same injury that ruled out Everton team mate Muhamed Besic for up to six months although the midfielder returned to training earlier this month.

It means the DR Congo international will miss his country’s participation in the Africa Cup of Nations next month.

Everton, meanwhile, will face Leicester City in the third round of the FA Cup.

The reigning Premier League champions are set to travel to Goodison Park for the encounter on the weekend of January 7 and 8, 2017.
