It’s a rare gem to find somewhere that would keep even the most anti-sports person happy whilst surrounded by Sports however Genting appear to have struck the right chord.
Nestled just behind the entrance of Queen Square’s glamorous Genting Casino is their newly-launched interactive sports lounge: think a bar with luxurious decor but paired with one of the largest screens I’ve ever seen.
The interactive sports lounge will show some of the biggest sporting events in the surroundings of the casino. The first “big” home tie to grace the screen will be the Merseyside Derby this weekend.
The live sporting events throughout the year will include box office boxing matches and Premier League football matches on main screens in the lounge.
At the far end of the room are two large private booths which can be hired out during high profile sporting events and are perfect for groups looking for their own private space in order to enjoy the event.
Aside from this are large banks of “dugout” seats, similar to those you would see in high end football stadiums, with the best view in the house of the largest screen in the bar.
There are lots of screens, aside from the main one, and so the idea is that more than one event can be shown at any given time – which was particularly useful as we visited on an evening when multiple Champions League games were being screened.
Not only this but the lounge has access to all sports, all red buttons, any channel that you can think of that can be shown on request. The idea being that no matter what the event, they can have it on for you.
Live odds for the events, will be provided by GentingBet, and will be shown to customers on a separate side screen.
One of the best features of the lounge is the brand new Electronic Roulette Touch Table. With an automated roulette wheel, players will be provided with their own touch screen on which they can place their bets. The table format allows for groups of friends to socialise around the table whilst still being able to play their numbers on the touch screen.
Another a feature of the lounge is their brand new menu. This is not to the detriment of Genting’s restaurant but is more of an addition. The food is far more relaxed and the perfect type of food to kick back, relax and watch the sports with.
There is everything you could possibly want in terms of relaxed eats. There are chicken wings, available by the Kilo if you so wish, burgers, pizzas, hot dogs, sharing platters – very relaxed food but to a very high standard.
We opted for a sharing platter to start. This consisted of Onion Rings, Chicken Strips, Mozzarella Sticks, Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers, and Black Pepper dippers. Everything on the plate was super tasty – for me, the Jalapeno Peppers were a little too hot however I am sensitive to heat.
The sharing platter offers excellent value for money and provides a good quality of food. It could be seen as a starter or perhaps in hindsight, a main that can be shared.
We then also opted for Hot Dogs. We went for the plain ones – they do a chilli dog also. The sausage was of an excellent standard and to a very high quality. Hot Dogs are always something I am a little dubious of so this was good to see. It was one of the best hot dogs I have ever tasted but be warned the size means they are very filling.
Genting appear to have found an excellent balance between providing a luxurious space but also a place were any sporting event can be shown.
The balance of the people in attendance on a Tuesday evening was a testament to the perfect balance that the creators have struck and I am very sure this space will be a huge success in this sport loving city.
