Get behind Waterloo rugby again this Saturday with free entry

Following the record-busting crowds at the free entry first home game of the season, Waterloo have decided to open the gates to all comers again this Saturday, September, 19.

The home match against Leicester Lions kicks off at 3pm and the team are eager to play in front of another roaring crowd, so get your kit on and get down for the best ruggers in the region.

Steve Moore, director of rugby, believes the crowd can make all the difference, "A big crowd makes my job so much easier, inspiring and encouraging our players to perform to the very best of their ability."

With by far the biggest crowd in their league on the opening day of the season, Waterloo want to keep the momentum going.

Dave Raywood, director, said "It was just fantastic to see such a large crowd at the Huddersfield game.

"The atmosphere was incredible with more than 1,000 spectators getting right behind us.

"The one thing we didn't get quite right on the day (apart from the match result of course!) was providing enough entertainment for children after the game, so next Saturday we'll have an inflatable slide, assault course and pugil sticks - as well as candy floss, BBQ, hog roast and bar!

"We want a huge crowd to cheer the team on and we can guarantee a great time for the whole family. If you've never been to a rugby game before, come down on Saturday and bring the kids too."

Also in other Waterloo news... Belgian international rugby player Noam Dubart arrived at Blundellsands this week for trials with Waterloo.

The full back/winger has played previously at Sale Jets, but his home club in Belgium is... also called Waterloo.

Steve Moore, director of rugby, says: "My parents lived in Brussels for 15 years so I know the Belgian club very well.

"I'm delighted to welcome Noam home to Waterloo!"
