The son of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been hotly tipped to become the next manager of Tranmere Rovers.
Darren Ferguson spent four years at Old Trafford as a player where he was part of the Red Devils' 1993 Premier League-winning side and is the latest name in the frame to fill the dugout void at Prenton Park after Rovers sacked John Barnes at the beginning of October.
Ferguson was sacked by Peterborough United last Tuesday following a two-year spell during which he helped the Posh to promotion to The Championship after finishing runners up in both League Two and League One.
The 37-year-old is keen for a return to management and it is reported that Super Whites chief Peter Johnson is preparing to offer Glasgow-born Ferguson the Prenton Park hot seat.
