Tranmere Rovers earned a 3-0 victory over Cammell Lairds in their first pre-season friendly of the campaign thanks to three second-half goals.

Superwhites boss Ronnie Moore fielded a strong side consisting primarily of first-team regulars, alongside a handful of trialists.

Tranmere came closest to breaking the deadlock in a goalless first-half when loanee Liam Palmer forced a good save from the home keeper. Ben Burgess and Andy Robinson also came close.

Rovers continued to pile on the pressure in the second-half, with chances falling to trial duo Abdulai Bell-Baggie and Francis Jeffers. They finally found a way through via Max Power, who drove the ball into the bottom corner after being lined up by Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro.

Akpa Akpro looked like a live wire in the second-half, tearing the home side's defence apart. He struck the bar 77 minutes, and went one better shortly after.

It was his shot that was parried into the path of Jeffers, who forced the corner that resulted in Rovers' second. Akpa Akpro bundled the ball home after Adam McGurk had has effort saved.

Power sealed the victory late on with a fine strike from outside of the area to make it 3-0 to the visitors.
