Stevenage Borough have made an offer for Tranmere Rovers forward Lucas Akins.

The 23-year-old is said to be keen on the move, but Superwhites manager Ronnie Moore is reluctant to let him go.

Stevenage boss Gary Smith told BBC Radio: "A bid has been submitted. He can play in midfield or up front so it would be a nice addition.

"But he's a Tranmere player and it's for them to decide where it goes."

Moore previously turned down a transfer request from Akins, stating that he has "no intentions of letting him go".

Rovers have already lost David Buchanan and John Welsh to League One rivals Preston North End, and are keen to keep hold of key players such as Akins.

The Prenton Park outfit have made a number of new signings over the summer, including strikers Ben Burgess and Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro, midfielders Danny Harrison ans James Wallace, and left fullback Paul Black.

Tranmere's League One campaign gets under way with a home game against Leyton Orient on 18th August.
