Tranmere Rovers reject Lucas Akins transfer request

Tranmere Rovers have turned down a transfer request from midfielder Lucas Akins.

The 23-year-old wants to leave Prenton Park in favour of a move to fellow League One side Stevenage Borough, but manager Ronnie Moore is intent on keeping him.

"We have no intentions of letting him go, we think he's progressing in the right manner and we want him here," Moore told Press Association Sport.

"We have told them he's not going anywhere. Their valuation of him doesn't match ours.

"I'd have to go out and find a replacement and there isn't anybody like-for-like out there."

Moore has already lost David Buchanan and John Welsh to League One rivals Preston North End, and is keen to keep hold of key players such as Akins.

Rovers have made a number of new signings over the summer, including strikers Ben Burgess and Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro, midfielders Danny Harrison ans James Wallace, and left fullback Paul Black.

Tranmere's League One campaign gets under way with a home game against Leyton Orient on 18th August.
