Tranmere Rovers manager Ronnie Moore has paid tribute to the club's supporters and urged them to purchase season tickets for next season.

The Superwhites coach described the Prenton Park faithful as "fantastic", calling upon them to attend home games in force during the 2012/13 campaign.

Moore explained that an increase in season ticket purchases will help generate revenue for squad strengthening over the summer.

"The fans have been fantastic all season. The more that come and buy their season tickets the better the players and team they'll see next season. If you ever want an incentive to get a season ticket that's it," he said.

"We need the fans, as many as we can get in. This has been a fortress this season... it's three games all season we've lost here. It wasn't too many last season and it was only three in the last season I was here. We have been good at home so we want as many as we can get in.

"Whatever comes in above the budget comes to me. The more we can get in the more that comes in to make the team better."

Tranmere ended the current campaign with a 4-2 defeat away to Colchester United, but Moore remains upbeat, claiming to have seen encouraging signs in the match.

He added: "It sounds crackers but I wasn't disappointed in the standard of attacking play. In the defensive game we were disappointed and two individual errors have cost us dear.

"I hadn't even come out of the dressing room and they'd scored, that's how quick it was. We'd just been speaking about keeping it tight. The goals were awful. But we had a lot of chances and a lot of balls flying in their box.

"Things change week in week out and you've got to make sure you don't get carried away with one result. Defensively we've had a lot of clean sheets this season so we put Saturday down as a little hiccup.

"Going forward we need the quality. There's about six or seven players we need to bring in but to do that I've got to let six or seven go."

The result sees Rovers on course for a 13th place finish in League One with one game remaining. Moore will lead the side into the next campaign after signing a new one-year contract last week.

Tranmere season tickets are available at a discounted price until this Friday (May 4).
