Liverpool FC keeper returns to Tranmere Rovers

Liverpool keeper Peter Gulacsi has signed for Tranmere on an emergency loan.

Rovers manager Les Parry swooped for the Hungarian after first choice keeper Gunnar Nielsen was ruled out for several weeks with an arm injury.

Gulacsi, who has signed for an initial month, played five times for Rovers last season on a short term deal, and was involved in the final day great escape as Rovers retained their League One status at Stockport.

But the news will come as a blow to youngster Joe Collister, who has been given an extended run in the team in Nielsen's absence.

Parry said: "Joe has done really well for us this season but it's his first extended run in the team and a lot to ask of a young goalkeeper to keep playing every week.

"Peter showed his qualities in the five games he played for us last season and I'm sure he will do just as well this time."

Gulacsi is expected to go straight into the side for today's home game against Charlton Athletic.
