Les Parry has moved quickly to bring in two Championship players on loan for a month as cover for his injury-hit side.

19-year-old defender Jermaine Grandison joins from Coventry City, while Derby County's Arnaud Mendy, 20, will provide cover for the injured duo of Labadie and McLaren in centre midfield.

Manager Les Parry said: "I'm pleased to be able to bring in players of Jermaine and Arnaud's quality.

"Injuries to Nick Wood, Paul McLaren and Joss Labadie leave us a little short at the moment, so Jermaine and Arnaud will fill those gaps with a bit of quality."

Mendy, who joined Derby from French side Rouen in 2008, has found opportunities limited at his parent club, and will be hoping to make an impression during his month-long stay at Prenton Park.

Grandison, meanwhile, who cuts an imposing figure at 6ft4" tall, has made nine appearances for Coventry since coming through their academy programme, and will cover for injuries to Wood as well as Ash Taylor and Marlon Broomes.

With the signing of striker Sam Morrow yesterday, this is likely to prove the last action for Tranmere on deadline day, unless a deal can be agreed with Rotherham for the departure of Ian Thomas-Moore.
