Tranmere have signed young strikers Adam McGurk and Lucas Akins ahead of tonights game against Swansea, but Ian Goodison is likely to miss out.
The two 21-year-olds put pen to paper on one-year deals yesterday, shoring up Rovers' attacking options.
But it is at the back where the Wirral side are struggling to make up the numbers, with an ankle injury to veteran Ian Goodison adding to the long term absentees in Taylor and Broomes.
Manager Les Parry will leave it until the last minute to make a decision on the Jamaican international, with French defender Max Blanchard set to make his full debut after arriving in the summer.
He said: “Ian wanted to come off for the last 15 minutes on Saturday and had some treatment on Sunday.
"He is a major doubt and of course we have other injuries in that area."
But if 23-year-old Blanchard does get the nod, there will be a real lack of experience in the Rovers backline, with youth graduates Collister and Cresswell, on-loan Leeds academy graduate Liam Darville and teenager Nick Wood completing the youthful back five.
But Parry, who acknowledged the lack of an older head could be an issue, is ready to put his faith in the French centre-half, who impressed in a defensive midfield role at Huddersfield last week.
He added: “We are getting younger and younger at the back but Max did well at centre-back when he played against Liverpool in a pre-season friendly.”
But while the defensive situation is causing Parry a headache, he at least has some options up front with the addition of McGurk and Akins.
McGurk, a graduate of the Aston Villa academy, came on for Thomas-Moore last Saturday while on a month to month deal, and is likely to feature at some point tonight.
Meanwhile Lucas Akins, formerly of Huddersfield, will be looking to break into the first team picture over the next few weeks after impressing in a trial reserve fixture last week.
According to Parry, the pair have earned the contracts due to their hunger and attitude as much as their ability.
He said: "They've both done really well with us during their time here, are bright prospects who add to our attacking options and I'm delighted they have both agreed to join us."
And after yesterday's story regarding Northern Irish striker Sam Morrow, his club Coleraine have moved to clear up the situation, confirming he is on trial at Prenton Park but no fee has as yet been discussed for the 25-year-old striker.
