Nearly three thousand ladies gathered in Sefton Park on Sunday to take part in Run Liverpool's Women's 10K race.

Runners of all abilities, from serious athletes to charity fundraisers, joined the event, which is Liverpool’s longest established road race and now includes 5K and 1 mile fun runs.

The morning sun attracted crowds of supporters as a sea of female athletes set off along a six mile scenic course around Liverpool’s most attractive parkland.

The winner of the 10K race was Liverpool Harriers' Jenny Clague in an impressive time of 36 minutes and 19 seconds.

The 5K was won by Lisa Gawthorne, who competes for Liverpool Pembroke, who raced home in 20 minutes 31 seconds.

This was my first ever 10k, I only started training in March this year and thoroughly loved it. Can't wait for next year!
