Blackburn Rovers are the most exciting team in the Premier League, according to scientists.
Rovers, who are known for their long ball style of play under Sam Allardyce, are more exciting than Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United say boffins.
Wrigley's Extra teamed up with scientists to test the heart rate and cortisol levels of a group of ‘football mad’ fans to see how excited they get when watching the game.
Fans from each of the 20 Barclays Premier League clubs were tested at four matches throughout the season.
And it seems Rovers fans, who narrowly avoided relegation last-term, kept fans pulses racing more than any other top flight club.
Dr. David Lewis who conducted the research says: "The findings are down to two crucial reasons: firstly, fans from clubs like Blackburn are willing their team out of the mid-table comfort zone causing tension levels to increase more than fans of top clubs who expect their team to win and are therefore calmer.
"Secondly, when something happens on the pitch that puts fan's high hopes in jeopardy tension levels can quickly soar."
Jan Evans who conducted the research for Wrigley's, said: "During Rovers’ rollercoaster ride to safety my heart rate went through the roof."
"It was amazing to see how incidents such as goals, sendings-off and penalties affected the result.
"During the up and down 2-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur my heart rate was at 132 beats per minute, which is even higher than a race car driver.
"I can only take so much punishment, so I’m asking Big Sam to make this campaign a little easier so I don't have to go through a nerve- shredding end of season like last time."
