The South African number one beat his opponent Lukas Lacko in a 3 set match which went to tie break in the third set at Liverpool this weekend.

Anderson, who currently has a world ranking of 30, beat the Slovak 6:3 , 1:6, 10: 7

He said, “I am delighted to have won to the Liverpool International title. It’s been a great event, and a great way to warm up for Wimbledon next week by getting a few extra grass games in. I’ve really enjoyed myself here.”

The 15 year old Belinda Bencic from Switzerland also beat Sachia Vickery of the United States 7:5, 2:6, 10:7 for the women’s title. The win was her first senior title in Great Britain.

Anders Borg, Tournament Director added, “A huge congratulations to Anderson on picking up this year’s men’s title today, as well as to Bencic who won the women’s title the day before - despite some difficult weather conditions.

“Both Anderson and Bencic will definitely now be ones to watch as they go on to compete at Wimbledon over the next week.”

Anderson is due to compete in Wimbledon 2012, and at the Olympics a few weeks afterwards.

Bencic will compete in the Juniors at Wimbledon.
