Three-time world champion Robin Reid makes his return to the ring on the 23rd March, when he fights in the Prizefighter: Super Middleweights II at the Liverpool Olympia.
And he will be joined by fellow Scousers Carl Dilks and Tony Quigley for the next instalment of the eight-man, one night tournament.
The man from Runcorn, who turns 40 on the 19th February, has not fought since being defeated by Carl Froch for the British title in 2007.
But he has assured his fans he is still in top fighting condition.
He said: “I'm knocking on a bit, but I've kept myself in good shape.
“Even when I retired four years ago I stayed in the gym, and I'm in this to win it.
“I know that if I catch somebody they are going to go, and from what I've seen, the quicker you get them out of there the better."
During the course of his career, Reid has held the WBC, WBF and IBO titles - fighting the likes of Joe Calzaghe and Jeff Lacy.
However, it’s the Lonsdale belt currently wrapped around the waist of James DeGale the ‘Grim Reaper’ has set his sights on.
He has also dismissed any suspicion his decision was financially motivated.
“The money is good, don't get me wrong, but I'm comfortable so I don't need the money.
“James DeGale is out there, and that could be a great fight for me down the line.
“In boxing at the minute there's just Amir Khan and David Haye, but apart from that there's no big stars there.
"I'm not saying I am a massive star, but I am a three-time world champion.”
Reid is now waiting for the BBBofC to give him the green light before he books a four-round warm-up bout, where he will be hoping to shake off any rustiness.
