Impressive shots where taken at the annual Knowsley Junior Golf Tournament which took place on Friday 27th August at Bowring Golf Course in Huyton.
Over 80 keen golfers swung into action at this year’s event organised by Knowsley’s Leisure and Cultural Services and much fun was had by all.
Tipping into 1st place was Joe Stulberg, aged 17, a 15 handicapper from West Derby who shot a 79, to give an impressive score of 64 and claimed the overall winner’s title, trophy and golf vouchers.
He slimly beat off competition from 2nd place Alex Ellison, aged 14 with a score of 68 and 3rd place Robbie Durnan, aged 12 with a score of 69.
Joe Stulberg said: “I am very pleased to have won first place, this competition is a great way for keen golfers to play competitively against other people from the area. It is organised very professionally and I would recommend anyone who plays golf to take part in next year’s event”
Winner of the cadets under 12’s was Holly Muse aged 10, from Kirkby who played 11 holes with a superb score of 58.
The event provides an opportunity for keen golfers of varying ages and abilities to play against other people from the borough whilst having fun and showing off their skills. The winners of the competition were rewarded for their efforts with trophies and vouchers, given out at the award ceremony after the competition.
The event is sponsored by Knowsley Safari Park, KHT Advantage and St Andrews, the home of golf, who donated caps, golf balls and tees which were given out free to all the participants on the day of the competition.
