UFC 140 - Jones vs. Machida
I seem to ask myself this question nearly everyday, who is the greatest example of a mixed martial artist?! And I come up with one answer every single funking time, Jon Jones! Consider the fact that Mr Jones (14-1) has only been competing in MMA for under 5 years, shocking i know, he is the youngest champion in UFC history and yet his skill set is so vast, he has great Muay Thai, superb Wrestling and slick BJJ, he mixes all these disciplines so well that he is by far the best example of a mixed martial artist!
"Bones" hopes to defend his title for the 2nd time this evening but Lyoto Machida is very difficult to defeat if you stay on the outside, which is what Jon likes to do.
Lyoto Machida (17-2) has high hopes of becoming UFC light heavyweight champion once again and he knows the challenge that sits in front of him is going to be extremely tough to dismantle. Mr Machida comes from a Karate background which provides him with excellent footwork and picture perfect timing. "The Dragon" is also a black belt in Brazilian Jui Jitsu as well as a handy wrestler which originates from a Sumo background, the question stands at - can he use his skills to defeat UFC light heavyweight champion Jon "Bones" Jones!?
December 27, 2008. UFC 92 - Mir vs Nogueira 1!
Being the super intelligent sucker he is, Mr Mir had assessed the holes in Big Nog's game, lack of head movement and lateral footwork, so Frank comes out throwing punches that come inside catching Minotauro every single time resulting in the first TKO finish in the Brazilians long established career.
Post fight it came out in the press that Mr Nogueira was hospitalized for 1 week, 20 days before the fight with a staph infection resulting in the poor performance due to a weakened body, Mir refuses to believe this 'Nonsense' saying that he was the better guy.
Tonight we will witness Frank Mir vs. Antonio "Minotauro" Nogueira 2!
Frank Mir (15-5) hopes that with the win he can kick away any negative vibes from his previous win over Big Nog (33-6) and move up into title contention. On the other hand Mr Nogueira last fought in August of this year earning a triumphant KO victory of rising heavyweight star Brendan Schaub shhhh'ing anyone that had said his MMA career was over, a win over Mir would back up his UFC 92 unhealthy claims and may put Big Nog vs Mir 3 on the cards or the alternative is he moves up into title contention!
