Liverpool have reportedly given up on signing Dutch winger Quincy Promes.
Jurgen Klopp explored a move for Promes as an alternative to Julian Draxler, who turned the Reds down in favour of joining Paris Saint-Germain this month.
The Holland international has been in prolific form for Spartak Moscow this season with eight goals from 17 appearances in the Russian Premier League.
He is also a good friend of current Liverpool midfielder and compatriot Georginio Wijnaldum, which offered Klopp fresh hope of concluding a successful deal.
A £20 million release clause was revealed in Promes’ contract with Spartak, who had already secured Aleksandr Samedov as his direct replacement.
But the Daily Mail claim that Liverpool have now shelved plans to secure the 25-year-old’s services in the January transfer window.
