Fiorentina have revealed that Emiliano Insua's transfer from Liverpool is in doubt.

Liverpool are currently scouring the transfer market for left-backs to replace both the Argentina international and Fabio Aurelio, who left the club earlier this month.

A fee was agreed between the two clubs for the 21-year-old earlier this month but the deal is currently in jeopardy with the player refusing to take a pay-cut to secure his switch to Serie A.

Pantaleo Corvino, La Viola's sporting director, said: "We have an agreement with the English club, but we have to find an understanding with the player in terms of wages.

"We cannot guarantee him the figures that he gets at Liverpool."
