Albert Riera will become an Olympiakos player at the end of the week after manager Ewald Lienen claimed that a fee has been agreed with Liverpool.
The Greek Super League outfit have made the temperamental winger, 28, their record signing for a fee believed to be in the region of £4.5million, depending on appearances and other clauses.
"Unless there is a major surprise then he will be our player," said Lienen.
"He is a great player who has proven his worth both at club level and for the Spanish national side."
Riera leaves Merseyside after a tumultuous stint that ended after a series of broadsides on Spanish radio in April put him on collision course with then manager Rafael Benitez, who brought him to the club in September 2008.
Despite being confined to the sidelines by his compatriot, he was offered a lifeline by new Kop boss Roy Hodgson but is expected to leave the club's pre-season training camp in Switzerland tomorrow to formalise the deal and bring his difficult 22-month spell at Anfield to an end.
