Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs is refusing to write off Liverpool's chances in the Premier League this season.
The Old Trafford veteran, who is United's record appearance holder, was part of the side that pipped the Reds to the title in a battle that went down to the final third of the 2008/09 season.
Under Roy Hodgson's stewardship, Liverpool have recruited England international Joe Cole, Serbian hitman Milan Jovanovic and strong potential in the form of youngsters Jonjo Shelvey and Rangers defender Danny Wilson.
Despite their failure to qualify for the Champions League last term Giggs, 36, believes that Liverpool always have the potential and is taking nothing for granted as he and United attempt to overtake the club's domestic title record in the forthcoming campaign.
He said: "Liverpool have a new manager and it's difficult to say what they are going to do.
"Two years ago they were close to winning the Premiership and you can never write them off.
"It just depends on how it goes. It is dangerous to write off a team with Liverpool's history.
"They have won the same amount of leagues as us. You cannot just dismiss that. They are a huge club and a massive team."
