Rafael Benitez has responded furiously to comments by Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan that Liverpool are "in a mess".
The Latics chief made the remarks following his side's win over the Reds on Monday night and claimed that owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks do not understand the passion of the Anfield faithful.
However Benitez has since hit back at Whelan, urging the retail magnate to focus on his own club's affairs rather than those of Liverpool.
He said: "I do not talk about Wigan. I prefer to concentrate on my team. He should talk about his own club."
The Spaniard also leapt to the defence of Steven Gerrard as he faces a probe from the Football Association over claims he made a V-sign towards referee Andre Marriner during the game at the DW Stadium.
"Sometimes you move your fingers. It was nothing. We are not considering it, it was nothing," Benitez added.
"All the players know they have to behave on the pitch. I was more worried about the silly fouls we were giving to Wigan."
