Raheem Stirling has become the latest homegrown prodigy to join the ranks at Liverpool after the club trumped Manchester United and Arsenal for his signature.
A deal between the Reds and Queens Park Rangers has been agreed for the England youth international, who was also a prime target of their top four rivals along with Manchester City and Fulham.
Stirling chose to leave the West Londoners after promises of making a senior debut after his birthday last year failed to materialise. Sir Alex Ferguson was believed to be a keen admirer of the 15-year-old but failed to lure him to Old Trafford.
The attacking midfielder has been part of the academy set-up at Loftus Road for nearly five years and already represented the club at under-18 level.
Touted as a future Wayne Rooney, Stirling will join the ranks at Liverpool's youth academy in Kirkby.
Managing Director Christian Purslow said: "The success of our Academy is vital to the future progress of the club and we have made clear that we will invest in outstanding young talent.
"Raheem is a very exciting young English player whose progress was being closely monitored by many other leading clubs and I'm delighted he's joining us.
"Frank McParland and his staff have done a great job in bringing him to Liverpool."
