Rafael Benitez commended Sotirios Kyrgiakos' attitude following a spirited performance during Liverpool's win over Bolton Wanderers at the weekend.
The veteran Greek defender has been brought back into the Reds' fold following injury to Daniel Agger. With Jamie Carragher forced to deputise for the sidelined Glen Johnson, the 30-year-old has enjoyed a new lease of life at Anfield.
Saturday's victory over Owen Coyle's side helped Liverpool extend their run to six games unbeaten and Benitez is full of praise for lofty Kyrgiakos, who cost £1.5 million from AEK Athens last summer.
The Spaniard cited the centre-back's ability to silence Trotters' stirker Kevin Davies throughout the game with a series of defensive headers as a key attribute to the club's recent run of form.
He said: "What has Sotirios brought? Headers.
"He is strong and he likes the challenge. It is something that we needed and right now he is doing well. His attitude has been contagious.
"Kevin Davies is very strong and it is not easy to stop him in the air, so Sotirios did really well. He lost one tooth in the game and that shows how hard it can be."
