Liverpool have agreed a deal to sell promising 17-year-old defender Christopher Buchtmann to Premier League rivals Fulham for a £100,000 deal.

The versatile left-sided player was an integral part of the Reds side that reached the FA Youth Cup final last season as well as helping Germany win the European Under 17 Championship.

Buchtmann, named as one of UEFA's top 10 stars of the future in May last year, has been allowed to leave Liverpool after failing to progress through the ranks at the club's youth academy since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2008.

Roma striker Stefano Okaka and Aston Villa's Nicky Shorey have also signed in at Craven Cottage but only on loan deals until the end of the season.

The Cottagers are hoping that his addition to their squad will be one of many before the close of the transfer window at 5.00 pm today after seeing striker Diomansy Kamara join Scottish giants Celtic on loan.

If this is true it's bonkers, the lad looked a real prospect and could have been knocking on the door for the 1st team in a couple of years.
