Javier Mascherano has encouraged his Liverpool team mates to turn Anfield into a fortress ahead of the visit of Bolton Wanderers.

The Argentina captain believes a formidable record at home between now and the end of the season will be aid the Reds' push for Champions League qualification.

He said: "If we can be really strong at Anfield, it will be really good for our confidence.

"I believe that confidence is always about the result. If you don't get the result, your confidence will go down and if you do it increases. One goes hand in hand with the other. We need to look at the positive things and try to be positive as we look forward.

"Whether you are winning or losing, it is no good thinking too much about it because you have to look forward and you have to live in the present. The present for us is Bolton and we have to win the game on Saturday."

While securing a top four finish may be uppermost in Liverpool's targets, Mascherano also has his eyes on bringing home some silverware this term.

The 25-year-old has also set his sights on collecting silverware at the end of the season by guiding Liverpool to Europa League glory.

Rafael Benitez's side face Unirea Urziceni in the competition next month and Mascherano is hoping that lifting the trophy will have a knock-on effect on the team as a whole.

He added: "The target for us is to finish in the top four and win the Europa League.

"The Europa League is very important for us. I want to win something with Liverpool. We have the chance to do that in the Europa League, so we will try our best.

"Also, if you win the Europa League, you get to play in the UEFA Super Cup and that will be really good for the team."about the past."

Yes! Being "very strong" at Anfield but getting a "draw or even a lost at away game". You're right, keep it up.
