Liverpool's Fernando Torres has been nominated for the prestigious Puskás award by FIFA.

The Spanish ace has been named as one of the finalists for the award from world football's governing body for the best goal of 2009.

El Nino's stunning half-volley against Blackburn Rovers in April faces stiff competition from goals by Chelsea's Michael Essien and Andre Iniesta's last-minute winner at Stamford Bridge to take the title, which is named after legendary Real Madrid and Hungary star Ferenc Puskás.

Reds supporters can view all the nominees in action and vote for El Nino at: http://www.fifa.com/classicfootball/awards/puskasaward
