Rafael Benitez has paid tributes to campaigners and supporters of jailed Liverpool fan Michael Shields following the 22-year-old's release.
The Wavertree student was allowed to return home after being granted a royal pardon and the Reds' manager believes that credit has to be given to everyone connected to the effort to free Michael.
"I think everyone is really pleased and happy here," said the Kop boss.
"We were supporting him. We knew it was a very difficult time for him, his family and all the people involved.
"The people here have shown again how they support someone for a long time. That's very positive.
"It was very good support and a good reaction from the people of Merseyside."
