Jerzy Dudek is ecstatic with Alvaro Arbeloa's decision to join him at Real Madrid and believes that it is only a matter of time former Liverpool team mate Xabi Alonso follows suit.

The Poland goalkeeper was part of the Reds' squad which Arbeloa joined in the transfer window of January 2007 but left Anfield after six years on Merseyside in favour of a move to the Bernabeu.

Today he expressed his delight at the news that the full-back has signed a five-year deal to return to the Spanish capital and can't wait to be reunited with the player once his £3.5 million transfer from Liverpool has been finalised.

"He's an all-round player. He's making great progress and I think that with his quality he can help this team in defence," he said.

"He's a very good friend of mine and the fact he's an international guarantees his worth."

When asked about Xabi Alonso - another of his former Anfield team mates - and the speculation over his future Dudek said that he believed it was only a matter of time, once Real had negotiated successfully with Reds manager Rafael Benitez.

"Alonso has a lot of quality and is also a great person off the pitch. I hope that he comes, although it is not easy to negotiate with Rafa Benitez", he added.
