Torres urges not to sell Alonso

Fernando Torres has urged Liverpool to keep hold of Xabi Alonso.

Spanish international, Torres has claimed it would be a 'bad piece of work' if The Reds sold his compatriot, and wants Reds boss Rafa Benitez to keep hold of Alonso;

"It would be a serious loss for Liverpool if he left this summer. It would be a bad piece of work if Xabi left."

Alonso has been the subject of speculation all summer with Real Madrid conducting a relentless pursuit of the midfielder.

"I'd put Xabi's own wishes ahead of everything else, of course, but he's got three years left on his contract with us and I'd love it if he stays." said Torres.
