Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel could miss the start of the new season after being ruled out for three weeks with a hamstring strain.
The Slovakian picked up the injury during Wednesday's friendly against the Thailand national team and has left the club's pre-season tour of the Far East for treatment on Merseyside.
However scans have revealed that the extent of the 24-year-old's injury will see him out of action for three weeks, making him a doubt for the Reds' opening game of the season away to Tottenham Hotspur on 16 August.
Skrtel's team mate Nabil El Zhar will definitely miss the start of the new campaign after sustaining ligament damage to his knee on the Far East tour, ruling him out for a month.
