Alexander Doni breaks silence on his Liverpool FC absenteeism

Alexander Doni has today broken his silence on his prolonged absence from Liverpool.

The Brazilian goalkeeper's status with the Reds has been shrouded in mystery since he was omitted from the club's pre-season tour of north America owing to personal issues.

Doni made just four appearances in his debut season at Liverpool, largely due to Pepe Reina's three-game suspension in April and was himself sent off against Blackburn.

His time away from Anfield has allowed Brad Jones to reclaim his place as deputy to Reina, who will miss Sunday's FA Cup fourth round trip at Oldham with a thigh problem.

Amd Doni who arrived from Roma on a free transfer in 2011, has revealed that he is currently residing in Miami while his future is resolved but refused to divulge the reason for his absence.

"They talk a lot. First, I was unhappy in the reserves, then it was an ankle injury, and I have to say every hour they invent a new story," he told Globoesporte.

"I can not speak the truth about what's happening with me and Liverpool.

"We have a problem. I'm resolving the issue."

He added: "I'm expecting a call from my solicitor. I've returned to Miami now, where I was sorting out other business. I cannot say more than that."
