Fiorentina have brought Alberto Aquilani's three-year spell at Liverpool to an end.
The 28-year-old made less than 30 appearances for the Reds during his three-year stay at Anfield following his £20million arrival from boyhood club Roma in the summer of 2009.
Aquilani's future has remained the subject of intense debate in recent years with the Italy international spending the previous two campaigns on loan in his homeland with Juventus and AC Milan respectively but neither of the Serie A giants opted to make his move permanent.
Today, however, Liverpool have confirmed that the midfielder, who was originally signed to replace Xabi Alonso, has severed all ties with Merseyside by joining Fiorentina.
Anfield chiefs told Aquilani earlier this week that he would not feature in Brendan Rodgers' plans for the club and allowed him to return to Italy to negotiate the transfer with La Viola.
