Maxi Rodriguez has secured a return to his native Argentina after three years at Liverpool.
The winger will return to his homeland following two-and-a-half years at Anfield, becoming the second Reds player to do so this summer after Fabio Aurelio signed with Gremio last month.
Maxi became a fans' favourite since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in January 2010 and offered almost talismanic qualities despite only recording 17 goals in 73 appearances.
The 31-year-old will join Newell's Old Boys at the end of this month, when he is expected to sign a four-year deal with his boyhood club, according to reports in Argentina.
His departure had been widely expected for several months, despite Brendan Rodgers replacing Kenny Dalglish as manager, and is the third first team player to make way as Fenway Sports Group, the club's owners, plan to revolutionise the existing squad during the close season.
In addition to Maxi and Aurelio, Dirk Kuyt's £1million move to Fenerbahce last week completes the triumvirate. Liverpool have also parted company with coaches Steve Clarke and Kevin Keen.
