Liverpool are reportedly in talks over a European transfer double swoop.
Real Madrid playmaker Esteban Granero has been linked with a move to Merseyside before the window closes in exactly seven days in a bid to bolster the Reds' attacking options.
Also said to be in talks is Groningen's highly-rated striker David Texeira.
Granero has been on Liverpool's radar for several years and Kenny Dalglish appears willing to hand him an escape route from the Real after making just four appearances this season.
But the offer of a loan deal until the end of the season is unlikely to find favour with the La Liga leaders supposedly eager to offload the 24-year-old permanently before the window closes.
Teixeira, meanwhile, is also understood to be in negotiations over a switch with Liverpool hopeful that fellow Uruguayan Luis Suarez can prove pivotal to securing his signature.
Prior to moving to Anfield, Suarez plied his trade with Groningen before moving to Ajax, and the hope is that Teixeira can forge a partnership to end the Reds' goal drought.
The deal is expected to be worth up to €9million (£7.5million) with the possibility of a player being offered as a part-exchange deal.
One player who will not be moving to Liverpool, however, is Nikica Jelavic despite the Rangers striker's father insisting that he is holding out for a deal.
