Liverpool have revealed their plans to honour the late Gary Ablett.

A minute's applause will be held before tomorrow night's FA Cup third round tie with Oldham Athletic at Anfield for the defender, who lost a 16-month battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

The Reds wore black armbands during Tuesday's defeat at Manchester City, two days after Ablett's passing, while the travelling supporters chanted his name in tribute.

Ablett won two league championships and one FA Cup during his seven years in the senior set-up at Anfield, which were preceded by three years as a youth apprentice.

He joined Everton in 1992 and became the only player to have won the FA Cup with both Merseyside clubs after lifting the trophy again in the 1994-95 campaign.

In 2002 he became the under-17 coach at Goodison Park before moving across the Stanley Park divide again four years later to become Liverpool's reserve team manager.

Under his guidance the club won the Premier Reserve League North in 2008 before being crowned national champions after beating Aston Villa's second string in a play-off.

Everton will hold their own tribute to Ablett before Saturday's visit of Tamworth.
