Charlie Adam could be a doubt for Liverpool's trip to Stoke after suffering an injury on international duty with Scotland.
The 25-year-old netted his first goal for the club during their 3-1 win over Bolton last weekend but could be set for an early spell on the sidelines for his new employers.
Adam was withdrawn 10 minutes from the end of his country's 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic in their Euro 2012 qualifying match on Saturday with a suspected hip injury.
Ahead of their game with Lithuania, Craig Levein's side have also been hit by the loss of Brighton striker Craig Mackail-Smith who has failed to shake a back problem.
But while Adam may be sidelined for the Reds' visit to the Britannia Stadium, they have been boosted by England's decision to allow Jordan Henderson to return to the club.
The midfielder was allowed to rejoin the ranks at Anfield by Stuart Pearce after he captained the side to a 6-0 win over Azerbaijan in their Euro Under-21 Championships qualifier.
Henderson, 21, will miss tomorrow night's friendly with tournament hosts Israel as he prepares for the trip to the Potters this weekend.
