Alberto Aquilani in line for Liverpool FC return after Juve snub

Alberto Aquilani will rejoin Liverpool after failing to attract suitors in Italy.

The former Roma playmaker had enjoyed a successful season-long loan with Juventus last term but the Serie A giants refused to take up the option to sign him permanently.

AC Milan, Inter and Napoli were all mooted as potential destinations for Aquilani but Franco Zavaglia, the 26-year-old's agent, confirmed this afternoon that his client will return to Anfield.

“Aquilani is going back to Liverpool,” he told tuttojuve.com.

Kenny Dalglish has yet to make his position on Aquilani clear, having entertained the idea of the Italy international remaining on Merseyside beyond the summer but the arrival of Jordan Henderson, combined with Charlie Adam's imminent capture will see him fall further down the pecking order.
