Germany international Mario Gomez's wage demands have ended hopes of a loan switch to Liverpool.
The Bayern Munich striker was considering a switch to Anfield after finding himself behind compatriots Thomas Muller and Miroslav Klose as well as Ivica Olic in the pecking order at the Allianz Arena.
Gomez, 25, is understood to have priced himself out of a move to Liverpool with wage demands of £125,000-a-week, prompting Roy Hodgson to make a move for West Ham's Carlton Cole as he aims to bolster his attacking options before the transfer window shuts.
Uli Ferber, Gomez's agent, had previously claimed that the Reds' interest could not be "pushed off the table" but Christian Nerlinger, Bayern's sporting director insists that no players will be leaving the club as Louis van Gaal looks to retain the Bundesliga title.
He said: "Bayern Munich are not a superstore for other clubs to come and help themselves to players.
"No player will be leaving and they will certainly not be leaving on loan."
