Damien Plessis and Nabil El Zhar have touched down in Greece as they prepare to finalise moves to Panathinaikos.
An impressive debut against Arsenal in 2008 was not enough for the French midfielder to force his way into the Reds' first-team plans, with only eight senior appearances to his name.
Plessis has been allowed to leave the club after failing to feature in Roy Hodgson's vision for the club following his arrival last month.
Benfica and Lazio have previously attempted to entice the 22-year-old away from Anfield after a disappointing three-year spell.
Also expected to join him in Greece is El Zhar, 23, who emerged as a surprise target for Premier League newcomers Blackpool earlier this summer.
The Moroccan winger has been highly vocal about his frustrations at a lack of opportunities on Merseyside since arriving from St Etienne in 2006.
