Roy Hodgson believes that Liverpool's win over FC Rabotnicki is a clear indication that the current crop has enough quality to challenge for honours.
David Ngog scored both goals in the Philip II Stadium to put the Reds in the driving seat ahead of the second leg of their Europa League third qualifying round next week.
Despite captain Steven Gerrard and several other senior first-team players being absent from the side, Hodgson believes that the youthful side he fielded in Skopje proved that a squad overhaul is unnecessary but admits that he is still looking at one or two final additions.
He said: "I don't think I've ever said the squad is in need of a major overhaul.
"We need to add one or two players to the team.
"It is important we keep the nucleus from last season and a nucleus of players who are maybe just behind the first team."
