Joe Cole has set his sights on helping write a new chapter in the Liverpool's illustrious history.
The England international, who was paraded to the media at Anfield this afternoon alongside fellow new signings Milan Jovanovic and Danny Wilson, revealed by the buzz around the club despite last season's failure to qualify for the Champions League.
Cole, 28, joined Liverpool last week after penning a four-year deal worth £90,000 per week and admits that exciting times lie ahead at Anfield as the club prepares to kick off a new season with their Europa League qualifier against FC Rabotnicki on Thursday.
He said: "Our aim from the start of the season has got to be trying to win everything we are in competition for. Last season was disappointing but there's been a lot of changes.
"There's so much positivity around Melwood at the moment that I wouldn't have thought I had come to a club that by their standards had a poor season last year.
"I think we've got the squad and just by training without everyone back, there's a lot of quality here.
"Everything is set in place for a successful spell at the club and I wanted to be at the start of something fresh and new.
"It's a new chapter with a new manager, new backroom staff and I'm just a small part of that. I just want to help this team and to help us achieve something."
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were also in the hunt for the highly-rated attacking midfielder but when pressed by reporters, Cole chose to concentrate on ending Liverpool's 20-year wait for the Premier League title.
"I'm excited to work with Roy. He's shown in the last two-and-a-half years what a fantastic manager he is," he added.
"It was important that I went to a club where I felt like the manager wanted me and I'm just chomping at the bit to start and get myself fit.
"You only have to come and watch training; it's been sharp and you just want to get going. The main thing for the club would be to win the title but we'll keep building and take it slow.
"It's been a long time since the club won the title but speaking to everyone here it seems that it's pointing in the right direction."
