Everton Tigers booked a place in the BBL playoff semi-finals after holding off Cheshire Jets in a passionate derby at the weekend.
Trey Moore, facing his former club, was the key man with his 25 points carrying the team to victory.
The Tigers used a 28-10 run in the first half to open up a 29-48 lead midway through the second period.
The Jets clawed themselves back into contention as they reduced the gap to 61-66 in the third quarter, but a James Jones three pointer and five points from Moore put Everton back in control again at 63-74 heading into the final period.
The Jets were forced to commit fouls to hold back the Tigers and Kevin Bell duly punished them from the free throw line to complete the victory. Bell ended the match with 9 of 18 from the line as his team went 18 from 34.
The Tigers were also in efficient scoring form away from the ‘charity stripe’, landing 94 points from only 57 shots while the Jets’ 79 points required 78 attempts.
The team will now face long-standing rivals Newcastle Eagles in a two leg semi-final tie.
