Everton Tigers gave their play-off hopes a huge boost after collecting maximum points on the road from their BBL double header this weekend.
First they travelled to MK Lions on Friday night to register a brilliant 122-88 victory before holding off Worthing Thunder the next night.
The Tigers almost blew a 21-point half-time lead but recovered to clinch an 82-90 win on the South Coast.
The team is now on the verge of tracking the top four after securing five wins in their last six games.
Coming off Friday night’s big win, the Tigers carried on their good form with a 23-5 run to start the match at Worthing.
Adam Williams, Trey Moore and Olu Babalola were all to the fore as Everton ended the first quarter 27-8 in front.
And Moore hit a couple of free throws to extend the lead before the home side began to match the pace, which left the advantage hovering around the 20-point mark until half-time as the Tigers left the court 43-22 up.
Rejuvenated, Worthing controlled the third quarter pulling Everton’s lead back into single digits (63-54) before finally drawing level at 71 points apiece.
The lead changed hands several times after that before Moore and Babalola combined for 10 points in a 14-5 finish to the match by Tigers.
Moore was also a key part in Friday night’s large victory, leading all scorers with 31 points, while James Jones and Adam Williams sunk 27 each.
The Tigers landed 11 out of 21 three-point attempts; they also had 17 steals and scored 39 points off turnovers.
The travelling Blues dominated the first quarter as they did most of the damage early on, despite the Lions opening the stronger.
Everton asserted themselves from the off, as Williams hit six points in a row to make the score 11-8.
The Tigers maintained an edge with a 15-5 push to go in 32-18 at the end of the first quarter.
The team pushed the lead through the 30-point barrier as Moore kept the scoreboard ticking over for his team – the guard had 24 first half points.
And it wasn’t long before the lead was more than 40 as Adam Williams hit eight early points to open the second half and the Tigers led 80-39 after five minutes, remaining on top for the rest of the game.
