Everton Tigers have announced that Steven Rush is set to return to the USA after the club decided not to extend his contract.

Rush, 25, arrived on Merseyside in late September from German Pro-B side Franken Hexer where he had played since January 2008.

After experiencing a difficult start to the new BBL campaign the Tigers’ management has decided to part company with the American point guard and is actively seeking a suitable replacement.

Tigers head coach Tony Garbelotto said: "Steven was an excellent player and we are sad to see him go. Although our results have been disappointing there have been some very positive results in the past few weeks.

“Taking this into account I think we had to take a longer term view to our season and we are now talking to a couple of players who will bring something to the squad going forward.

“We wish him every success with his next club.”
