Glasgow Rocks recovered from their recent bout of swine flu to deny the Everton Tigers a fourth consecutive win in the BBL.

A 10 point lead was opened up by the Rocks in the first quarter (16-6) only to see the Tigers whittle it back to 23-21 at the break thanks to three-pointers by Andrew Thomson, Steven Rush and Chris Haslam.

Throughout the second period the Tigers dominated, keeping Rocks at bay with some tough defence before the Glasgow side trimmed the gap to 33-43 at half time.

Everton Tigers also had to do without player-coach Sterling Davis for the second half after he was disqualified from the match late in the second quarter by the officials.

The lead switched hands throughout the third quarter as the Tigers began to find their rhythm again but once James Copeland put Glasgow in front at 54-53 they never trailed again.

Taking a 58-55 advantage into the fourth quarter the Rocks steadily increased the margin as Everton struggled to penetrate the home side’s rearguard.

Jerome Gumbs was once again the top scorer for the Tigers with a 19 point haul and was ably assisted by Andrew Thomson (15) and Kevin Bell (13).

The Tigers know they will need to improve their form away from home in time for the crucial BBL Cup quarter final against the much improved Sheffield Sharks on Friday.

This story is full of errors..namely the fact the Sterling Davis is player/coach of the ROCKS, not the Tigers, & its Mike not James Copeland
