The Mersey Tigers are Merseyside’s only Professional Basketball Club. Playing at the highest Level of UK basketball, in the British Basketball League, the Mersey Tigers have been one of Merseyside’s most successful professional sports clubs over recent years.
This season The Tigers play their home games at the world class Liverpool Echo Arena, with fresh new orange and black colours and a burning ambition to become the UK’s number one basketball club, the future for professional Basketball on Merseyside looks exciting.
The Tigers team is full of some of the brightest stars in UK basketball, having welcomed Drew Sullivan this season, the inspirational, 6ft 8, captain of team GB, adding to the Tigers strong home grown talents like David Aliu, the commanding Toxteth-born forward.
On Court the Mersey Tigers intentions this season have been made clear. The Tigers have won 7 out of their first 8 games, including a storming 22 point win over last year’s BBL champions The Newcastle Eagles.
