David Moyes has confirmed Everton’s interest in Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah.
The Ghana international continues to be heavily linked with a move to Goodison Park as Moyes looks to refresh his squad in the January window.
Reports in France claim that the Blues have agreed a deal with the Ligue 1 outfit in the region of €20 million (£16.9M) to secure Nuamah’s services.
While Moyes was unable to verify whether those suggestions were true on Friday, he did admit that a move for the 21-year-old was being explored.
He said: “He’s a player who I know we’ve been looking at.
“But I couldn’t say to you it’s done or it’s under way.
“At the moment we’re looking at some players, and he’s one of them.
“Hopefully we can get somebody before the end of the transfer window.”
The Scot also provided an update on Armando Broja’s situation after the forward was ruled out for between 10 and 12 weeks with an ankle injury.
That lengthy lay-off has opened up the possibility of the Albania international’s season-long loan being curtailed with an early return to parent club Chelsea.
But the Everton manager insists that proposal is not a certainty as both clubs remain in talks over how to best handle Broja’s spell on the sidelines.
“I don’t think it’s absolutely (he’ll go back),” added Moyes.
“I said in the press conference after the [Aston Villa] game when I was asked the question that his injury is going to take a lot longer than what we hoped.
“But it’s one of the options that might be available and there are people at the club talking to Chelsea just now.”
