David Moyes holds talks over Everton return

David Moyes has entered talks over a long-awaited return to Everton.

Moyes swiftly emerged as the forerunner for the Goodison Park hot seat after Sean Dyche’s sacking, just hours before the FA Cup win over Peterborough.

The Scot will meet with new Blues owners The Friedkin Group on Friday to explore the viability of rejoining the club he left after 11 years in May 2013.

Moyes guided Everton to nine Premier League top-half finishes while also steering them to an FA Cup final in 2009, where they lost to Chelsea.

He was previously in the frame for a return to the club in late 2019 before erstwhile owner Farhad Moshiri ‘changed track’ and appointed Carlo Ancelotti.

If negotiations prove successful, Moyes’ re-appointment is set to be finalised this weekend ahead of his first game against Aston Villa next Wednesday.

Since leaving Goodison for an ill-fated stint with Manchester United, the 61-year-old has enjoyed a varied career path that has seen mixed success.

He guided West Ham to the Conference League success during his second spell while also enjoying spells with Sunderland and Real Sociedad.
